Canadian scientists at the University of Lethbridge have some promising results that might be counted as preliminary evidence that cannabis may block COVID-19 infection. The study's aim was to find ways to hinder the COVID-19 from finding a host in the lungs, intestines, and oral cavity. In order to conduct to study, the researchers developed over 400 new cannabis Sativa lines and extracts. The end-strains were high in anti-inflammatory cannabinoid cannabidiol (CBD) since the compound has been proposed to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. The lead researcher, biological scientist Dr. Igor Kovalchuk stated some strains showed promising results in ensuring less fertile ground for the virus to take root. "A number of them have reduced the number of these (virus) receptors by 73 percent, the chance of it getting in is much lower. The illness, pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome, has symptoms similar to toxic shock or Kawasaki disease. Two of the children who died were of elementary school age, the third was an adolescent, and they were from three separate counties and had no known underlying health issues, said New York health commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker. Cases have been reported in several other states. قال الدكتور نور الدين شمس الدين، مدير معهد بحوث الحشرات الطبية في مصر، إنه حتى لازال العلماء والباحثون يحاولون اكتشاف المزيد من التفاصيل والمعلومات حول فيروس كورونا المُستجد، الذي حصد أرواح أكثر من 82 ألف شخص حول العالم، وأصاب ما يقرب من 1.5 مليون شخص. ومع تأكيد العديد من مراكز الأبحاث والسيطرة على الأمراض حول العالم، أن فيروس كورونا لا ينتقل من الحيوان إلى الإنسان، بدأت التساؤلات تنتشر حول إمكانية انتقاله عبر الحشرات. وفي تصريحاته لبرنامج "التاسعة" على التليفزيون المصري، قال الدكتور نور الدين شمس الدين، مدير معهد بحوث الحشرات الطبية في مصر، أنه حتى الآن لم يثبت علميًا أن الحشرات مثل الذباب والبعوض يمكنها نقل عدوى فيروس كورونا المستجد. وأوضح شمس أنه لا توجد أبحاث علمية، سواء دخل مصر أو خارجها، تؤكد ذلك، لافتا أن تقارير منظمة الصحة العالمية لم تُشر إلى أن فيروس كورونا المُستجد يمكنه الانتقال إلى الإنسان عبر الحشرات، وكورونا عبارة عن فيروس ينتقل من إنسان إلى آخر، لكن ه وقال شمس الدين أن هناك أنواع أخرى من البكتيريا أو الفيروسات تكون فيها الحيوانات

كشفت وزارة الصحة المصرية يوم الجمعة حقيقة إرسالها فرقًا طبية لمنازل المواطنين لإجراء تحاليل فيروس كورونا المستجد بمقابل مادي. وقالت وزارة الصحة والسكان المصرية في بيان رسمي أنها تنفي صلتها بما يتم تداوله على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي من قيام فرق بالمرور على المنازل للكشف على المواطنين وإجراء تحليل لفيروس كورونا المستجد بمقابل مادي، مستخدمين اسم وشعار وزارة الصحة. وأكد بيان الوزارة أن هؤلاء ليس لهم علاقة بوزارة الصحة ويجب الابلاغ عنهم فورًا، فيما أوصت الوزارة بتحري الدقة فيما يتم نشره، والرجوع إلى المصادر الرسمية للوزارة. وسجلت مصر يوم الجمعة 358 حالة إصابة جديدة بفيروس كورونا المستجد، فيما تم تسجيل 14 حالة وفاة جديدة بسبب الفيروس التاجي في البلاد.
