All Three 2020 iPhone Models Expected to Have 5G Wireless Connectivity

Image
In a research note, Ming-Chi Kuo from TF Securities cites competition from 5G adoption in high-end Android phones, forcing the revision from Apple. As a result of the proliferation, Kuo believes that consumer sentiment will demand that all of the 2020 models have the technology. What isn't yet certain is if Apple will release a 5G phone without mmWave technologies for some markets like China that only will support sub-6GHz networks. Kuo believes that "Apple and EMS who are currently focusing on developing and testing mmWave may not have enough development resources if Apple would like to develop the 5G iPhone, which will only support Sub-6GHz." For 5G specifically, frequencies can be generally categorized into one of two groups —low-frequency sub-6GHz bands, and higher-frequency 6GHz bands. The first low range consists of bands that are currently used for existing mobile network communications, as low as 600MHz and up to 2,600MHz, though it can also inc

Your iPhone Will Soon Be Able to Identify Dogs and Cats

Image
A new feature in an upcoming version of Apple’s iOS will enable iPhones to look at images and identify which parts of that picture are cats or dogs. The software, called VNAnimalDetector, basically draws a digital rectangle around any part of a photograph containing an animal and labels it as either a cat or dog. The software shows Apple’s continued efforts to take complicated and tricky machine learning techniques, and package them as part of the iPhone operating system. It also emphasizes Apple’s large investment into computer vision, a subset of computer science that focuses on enabling cameras and other sensors to “see” and understand the real world. Computer vision is also a core underlying technology for self-driving cars and augmented reality glasses. The detector also suggests that Apple is very aware of how many pictures of their fuzzy friends iPhone users take. Apple’s Photos app has been able to identify cats and dogs from user

More Bad News for Apple as New iPhone Designs Exposed

Image
There’s a popular theory emerging from Apple fans: the company’s ugly new iPhone designs will not look so bad once you get them in hand. But they’re wrong. Following the leak of detailed schematics and stunning renders, popular tech designer Ben Geskin has built physical models of Apple’s iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max. And when you strip away the sheen, the reality is even worse. Showing off the designs, Geskin asks: “Did you get used to this design already?” In response, he was deluged by almost 900 comments and the vast majority were overwhelmingly negative (sometimes hilariously so) with the highest ranked responses: “Horrible design… it looks soo awkward” (source) and “Steve Jobs would’ve fired everyone” (source). The problem stands out a mile: Apple’s massive new camera hump. The irony is this most hated feature is likely to be the iPhone 11’s headline upgrade. That’s because this year Apple is sidelining style for substance with both new

Apple’s $1000 Monitor Stand Is a Massive PR Fail

Image
Apple didn’t just announce a $5000 monitor during WWDC: it also announced an optional $1000 monitor stand to go with it. There wasn’t too much reaction to the $4999 starting price of the monitor itself, or even the $1000 premium for the low-reflectivity upgrade. This is a true reference-grade monitor designed for critical color work by photographers, videographers, and filmmakers. Similar monitors typically cost upwards of $10,000, and Apple compared it to one costing $43,000. But the Internet has had a lot to say about the optional stand … Engadget had this to say about the reaction in the room. You can pinpoint the exact moment when Apple lost the WWDC audience on Monday. John Ternus, the company’s VP of hardware engineering, had just revealed that the Pro Display XDR, its new high-end 6K monitor, will cost $4,999. That’s pricey, but reasonable considering all of the features it offers. But then there was one more thing, and not the good kind. O

iOS 13 Removes 200 MB File Size Limit for App Downloads

Image
Apple upped the iPhone cellular limit from 150 MB to 200 MB just last week .. and now that limit is being removed altogether. With iOS 13, Apple will warn users when they attempt to start a large download on a mobile network but you are allowed to override it. In this case, the App Store version of PUBG is over 2 gigabytes in size. When attempting to download the game on iOS 12, it simply wouldn’t be allowed on mobile data. In iOS 13, the system now shows a dialog warning that the app size is large, noting the file size. Users can choose to continue downloading or schedule it to happen later when the device returns to a Wi-Fi connection. This behavior is even customizable in Settings. There is a new preference in iTunes & App Store named ‘App Downloads’. The default option is ‘Ask if Over 200 MB’ and shows the above pictured alert. In ‘Ask First’ mode, the user is always prompted to confirm a cellular app download. On the other end

How to Tell Whether an iPhone is Refurbished without Disassembling it?

Image
It is possible to learn whether the iDevice is refurbished without dissembling it, you just need to pay attention to the details. Checking the appearance of the iDevice is quite important, while in fact, checking the system parameter is usually neglected by people. In this case, 3uTools can help you read all the system parameter of the iDevice. Check the Appearance You might want to check whether the appearance is worn or it is the same as what the seller says if you are buying a second-handed iPhone. The new original iPhones feature a nice tactile sensation, a proper weight, and instant feedback for the key pressing. The components might have been replaced with third party ones if the tactile sensation is somewhat strange to you, then you may look at the IMEI code on the back of the iPhone and see whether it is same as the IMEI code shown on the iPhone. You may also see whether the screen is tilted or there is dust under the screen because the screen might be remove

Alleged iPhone XI and XI Max Molds Show Triple Camera Layout

Image
The images appear to be 3d prints or milled units from a CAD file. Discussion of the dummies suspects them to be iPhone "blanks" matching the dimensions of a future iPhone, used to engineer protective third-party cases. Little can be gleaned from the blanks that hasn't already been rumored. The camera penetration is square, with three areas where a camera lens would be located. A fourth smaller cutout in the camera extrusion suggests where the flash may end up on the final unit. The second image shows that Apple may be planning to retain the notch. The notch shows four sensor penetrations, and a speaker hole.  The provenance of the images isn't clear. They may in fact be dummies generated from leaked specifications, in much the same way that accurate enclosure dummies were available for the iPhone X and iPhone XS families in late April of 2017 and 2018, respectively. Notably, at the corresponding times, the names for the produ

iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus Might not Support iOS 13

Image
Apple has struggled hard to make iOS 12 available to its older iPhones and iPads while the company abandoned a number of new features to make the system more stable and faster than before. According to rumors, several devices might not be able to download the company’s next operating system update. The Tech Giant is currently in the process of developing the next major update. iOS 13 will be presented for the first time at the company’s annual developer conference, the WWDC 2019, which will take place this June. According to previous years tradition, it is expected to be released to all users in September, along with the launch of the new iPhones. However, before we even get a look at the Apple’s next major iOS 13 and its innovations and features that it will bring, According to The verifier, it is rumored that the company will reportedly drop support for several iPhones including iPads. Here is the list of iPhones and iPads which will allegedly no longer b

New Report Says AirPods 2 and New iPads are about to be Released

Image
Apple a few days ago sent out invites  for a March 25th press conference  where the company is widely expected to unveil its own Netflix-like video streaming product. Services may be the focus of the upcoming keynote, but Apple is also expected to introduce new hardware soon, including the new AirPods 2 wireless headphones, the AirPower universal wireless charger, and a couple of affordable iPads, the iPad 7 and iPad mini 5. It’s unclear, however, whether all of these devices will be unveiled during the media event, but a new report suggests the launch of new iPads and AirPods is imminent. Component suppliers from Asia are already manufacturing parts for unreleased Apple products, including iPad and AirPods,  Digitimes says . The report notes that flexible PCB makers Flexium Interconnect and Zhen Ding Technology are readying mass production for the next-gen iPad, and Compeq Manufacturing and Unitech PCB make rigid-flex boards for the upcoming AirPods models. The re

Apple AirPods Can Cause Cancer, 250 Scientists Approved – BBC

Image
Apple AirPods can cause you cancer, as 250 Scientists accept that fact that using AirPods can pose you to the higher risk of cancer. Apple AirPods is one of the top selling brands in the world. About 250 scientists belonging to 40 countries around the world have initiated a petition with the WHO (World Health Organization) and the UN (United Nations) to warn people about the lethal disadvantages of radiations. As per scientists, Apple AirPods can “Expose you to Cancer Risks”. This happens because the Pods emits radiofrequency radiations which we use in our WiFi devices, mobile data, and Bluetooth. Furthermore, the ear canal is very sensitive and is easily exposed to the dangerous radiations. The jury of Apple is still inquiring about the Device can cause cancer or not but the decision has been made that these pods are highly harmful for your body. Only in 2018 Apple sold at least 28 million pairs of Air-Pods. And in 2017, it sold 16 million in total. Users a

Experts point to the multiple challenges Apple faces in the future

Image
Apple first promised a mining-free future back in 2017, saying it planned to eventually create all its devices from 100% recycled materials. The company said at the time that it didn’t yet know how to achieve this, and experts today point to some of the challenges the company will face along the way to this grand vision … Apple first set out its goal in its 2017 Environment Responsibility Report, with environment lead Lisa Jackson expanding on it. It sounds crazy, but we’re working on it. We’re moving toward a closed-loop supply chain. One day we’d like to be able to build new products with just recycled materials, including your old products […] We’re actually doing something we rarely do, which  is announcing  a goal before we’ve completely figured out how to do it. So we’re a little nervous, but we also think it’s really  important,  because as a sector we believe it’s where technology should be going. ‘Closed-loop’ means that Apple recycles its own older product

Wistron is Expanding Indian Production into the Newest iPhone XS and XR Models

Image
Wistron is known for its production of low-cost iPhone models destined for sale in India, building the  iPhone SE and iPhone 6S  for the local market to save on importation costs. While the company has reportedly  increased its investment  in India, including one January report where management authorized up to 30 billion rupees ($428.7 million) in additional investment in the region, it has been largely unknown exactly how it would be used.  According to the Economic Times,  a plan  by the company to spend 5,000 crore ($714.6 million) has been approved by the country's information technology ministry. As part of the announcement, IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad seemingly confirmed it was to do with Apple-related production.  "We have just approved Wistron's Rs 5,091-crore application and it is with the Cabinet now," said Prasad in an interview, adding "Wistron will make the latest iPhone models." It is unclear if this is Wist

Apple Releases 2019 Supplier Responsibility Report

Apple has released its 2019 Supplier Responsibility Report detailing the results of its efforts to ensure suppliers meet the company's standards. “In everything we do, people come first,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer. “We are constantly raising the bar for ourselves and our suppliers because we are committed to the people who make our products possible as well as the planet we all share. This year, we’re proud to give more people an opportunity to advance their education. Working alongside our suppliers, we’re challenging ourselves to find new ways to keep our planet healthy for future generations. Our goal has always been not just to drive progress in our supply chain, but to drive meaningful change across the industry.” We care deeply about the people who build our products, and the planet we all share. So we hold ourselves and our suppliers to the highest standards to ensure everyone is treated with dignity and respect

Apple Loses Key Witness in Latest Qualcomm Battle, Accuses the Chipmaker of Witness Tampering

Image
In its latest battle with  Qualcomm that headed to court  earlier this week, Apple planned on using a  former engineer as its star witness . Today we’ve learned that the company has lost that witness and Apple’s counsel has accused Qualcomm’s defense of witness tampering. As reported by  CNET , losing former engineer Arjuna Siva as a witness in this case is a significant setback for Apple.  The company claims that Siva was a co-inventor of one of the three technology patents at the heart of the case and that  Qualcomm didn’t give him credit  when it registered the patent. In contrast, Qualcomm claims that Siva didn’t contribute at all: “Stephen Haenichen, Qualcomm’s director of engineering and one of the inventors listed on the patent, denied the allegation. When asked what contribution Siva made, he replied, “Nothing at all.” While Siva now doesn’t plan on testifying, Apple’s counsel Juanita Brooks said he would if subpoenaed. "Siva was scheduled to testif

New iPhone X Leak 'Confirms' Apple's Serious Problems

Image
Following months of leaks, the iPhone 9 has emerged as Apple's most exciting new smartphone of 2018. Unfortunately, the world’s most acclaimed iPhone insider has now revealed it contains several significant shortcomings…   In a detailed new report obtained by 9to5Mac, famously accurate analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed the iPhone 9 (which I predict to simply be called ‘iPhone’) will actually amount to a lot less than the ‘affordable iPhone X’ hype many reports have claimed. Apple's iPhone 9 has more compromises compared to the new iPhone X (left) and iPhone X Plus (right) than previously knownMKBHD Breaking down Kuo’s findings highlights no less than seven significant areas where Apple will cut costs with the iPhone 9 in comparison to the premium iPhone X Plus and second generation iPhone X (sometimes called the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Plus). Let’s break them down: Inferior Display And Resolution Yes, it has long been known that the

Apple Leak Details Shock New iPhone Upgrades

Image
The rumour mill has not been kind to Apple AAPL -1.16%’s so-called iPhone 11. The 2019 iPhone has been labelled as ugly, boring and out of touch, but now the story has taken a twist. New information reveals Apple is making some surprising design changes… In a new video, hugely popular YouTube giant EverythingApplePro reports the iPhone 11 will respond to touch like no other smartphone. Working with XDA Developer’s popular sleuth Max Weinbach, EverythingApplePro has learnt the iPhone 11 does not mark the end of 3D Touch (as was feared) but instead sees the phone double down on the technology behind it. In the biggest advancement of Apple’s ‘taptic’ engine to date, EAP explains it will be expanded to cover a 3x3 grid across the new iPhone’s entire display as well as adding more precise vibrations so input response is more tactile on every part of the screen. This will enable the new iPhone to deliver far richer physical feedback to taps and gest

iPhone Xs and Max Again See Hefty Discounts in China

Image
Weakness in Chinese smartphone sales in the holiday quarter led Apple to report its first guidance miss in 16 years. Both Tim Cook and external analysts have tentatively said that market conditions are slowly improving. In January, major Apple Chinese resellers cut the price of iPhone XR models. This week, the same resellers are pushing iPhone XS with price promotions, as first reported by the Taipei Central News Agency. Many people believe Apple is letting resellers buy the iPhone at cheaper wholesale prices than usual, in order to be able to offer significant discounts for customers. Suning is reducing the price of the iPhone XS by 1000 yuan or about $150 dollars in store and up to $195 in online promotions. The upfront iPhone XS Max purchase price has reportedly been cut by 2000 yuan, or almost $300. The other major outlet for Chinese iPhone sales, JD.com, is offering similar promotions with 1000 yuan discounts on iPhone XS and 1700 yuan r
