Guy ghosts his pregnant girlfriend as payback for cheating on him

Romantic relationships require hard work – but that doesn’t mean we’re meant to be mollycoddled if we slip up. If you commit yourself to someone, you’re essentially telling yourself that you’re ready to put in the work necessary to keep this thing going. You’ve decided that your significant other is so special that you’d do anything for him or her – no matter how hard things get.This story is a prime example of a relationship that imploded within seconds – all because someone cheated. The sad thing is that these lovebirds were together for a whopping seven years. That’s about as serious as you can get before getting married – but after she broke his trust, he could never look at her the same.
However, this isn’t just your typical cheating-breakup story – we’ve got a twist for you today. What makes this story so particularly intriguing is how the boyfriend handled things – and how everyone responded.

A long term relationship

We’re going to tell you the story exactly like the boyfriend did – in a long extended post on Reddit. He started it off by saying that he and his lady had been dating for more than seven years (as we mentioned previously).

He continued to talk about how they had discussed the idea of marriage quite often, and also talked about having kids a lot as well. Clearly they seemed destined to be together forever, or at least he thought so. He also added that she had recently quit her job two years prior so that she could go to medical school.

An act of betrayal

But his story immediately took a nasty turn for the worse. He said that in the previous week, he discovered that she had cheated on him with an ex-boyfriend of hers from high school. He discovered this by simple means of reading a series of incriminating text messages on her phone.

His phone had gotten lost, so he opened up hers to call his own – and that’s when he saw the conversation between his girlfriend and her ex. He went on to say that he has nothing personal against this man she got together with – but he has no idea why she’d ever want to be with him, because in his words, the guy is going “nowhere in life.”

Supporting her financially

He continued on his Reddit post saying that this whole thing didn’t make him upset, rather angry. This makes sense, considering he dedicated over seven years of his life to her! But it wasn’t just emotional support that he’d been giving her all this time. It wasn’t just countless girls that he hadn’t pursued so that he could give her his full attention.

It wasn’t just the fact that he imagined her as the “mother of his future children.” According to him, he had also supported her financially in more ways than one. He had been, and still was, paying for her rent, her food, and her college tuition, fully supporting her through medical school.

Kicking her out

So what did this man do? Heartbroken and understandably upset, he hired a locksmith to change the locks in their apartment. He noted that the landlord had given him permission to do so, after hearing his story. He did all of this while she was in class.

He continued to pack up as much of her belongings as he could find in their apartment, and proceeded to leave it all outside. When he was done, he texted her what he had done – and explained that if she wanted to get anything else out of the apartment that he hadn’t found, she should have her brother come and pick it up.

Receiving backlash

Right after he said all that, he added that he has no desire to speak to her ever again. This makes complete sense – she shattered his heart into a million pieces, so why would he want anything to do with her? But instead of receiving support from his loved ones, he received backlash.

He started getting countless phone calls from both her parents and his parents too! They agreed that she had done something “wrong,” but in their opinion it wasn’t a good enough reason to throw away seven plus years of a relationship. Furthermore, they reasoned, if he ends it with her, she would then have to “drop out” and waste all those years of education.

Not my problem

But he wasn’t interested in what any of them had to say. Yes, it’s true that without his financial help, she wouldn’t be able to continue medical school, because her family wasn’t very wealthy. But he justifiably reasoned that she’s no longer his problem.

He gave her everything she needed and she still couldn’t remain faithful – why should he stick by her now? He stopped answering the phone calls, and he blocked her number – but the story wasn’t over.

Blocking everyone out

A little while later, he posted another post on Reddit updating everyone on what had happened in the aftermath of the situation. He wasn’t planning on telling everyone what happened, but he claimed that he was hit with a “bombshell” one regular afternoon.

After blocked his girlfriend (now ex) from all means of communication, both her and his parents tried to confront him directly. They came to his apartment, but he simply ignored their persistent knocks.

Apartment ambush

After he ignored their knocks on the door, they eventually left, but they were relentless in their mission to speak with him. They knew that he would have to leave his house to go to work at some point.

So one afternoon they simply waited by his door while he was on his way home from work. When he got home, outside his door was not just his parents and her parents – but his girlfriend was there too.

The apology

Unable to run away this time, his parents and her parents pleaded with him to simply talk to her, and hear what she had to say. Finally, he agreed – so both of their parents left the premises and left the once-happy couple to talk to each other.

They went inside the apartment, and immediately she began to apologize profusely, and of course begging him to forgive her. She said that their relationship was the “best thing that ever happened to her,” and that she could “never forgive herself.”

Not having it

But even though she was down on her hypothetical hands and knees, he wasn’t buying it. On his Reddit post, he joked that she basically told him “everything that you’d expect a cheater to say.”

He wasn’t interested in her apologies – but apparently she had more up her sleeve. According to her, there was a good reason she had for what he had done. But when she told him the real reason, he called it the “most ridiculous excuse” he’d ever heard.

Her little secret

This was what she had to say: She explained that a few weeks ago she had learned that she had gotten pregnant. The newfound pregnancy had then brought upon a stormcloud of overwhelming emotions – and she said that she started getting conflicted about having a child.

She was having major doubts about starting a family, and this led her to reach out to her ex-boyfriend from high school. Apparently it was originally intended to be a friendly meet-and-greet…

Excuses excuses

She tried to reason that she only wanted to talk to her ex for emotional support, to help her with her conflicted feelings. Her rationale was that the “emotional support quickly turned physical.”

As the boyfriend acknowledged to the Reddit community, this logic made no sense at all. Especially because they had been talking about having kids for years. This wasn’t something new – it just seemed like excuses she was making up. But she wasn’t done.

Doubling down

In order to prove to him how serious she was being, she then proceeded to take out two pregnancy tests. One of them was used, and it read positive.

The other one was unused, and she told him that if he didn’t believe her, she could take the test again right then and there, and he would see for himself that she’s actually pregnant. He agreed to this, so she took the test, and lo and behold, she was indeed pregnant.

More texts

Regarding who the father is, she maintained that he is “100%” the father – because she claimed that she hadn’t cheated on him until after the pregnancy. So how did he respond to that? He told her to give him her phone – and she did.

Immediately he checked her text messages, and found something pretty disturbing. Ever since he had thrown her out of the house, she and the man she cheated on with were still texting “non-stop.”

Wait outside…

In other words, his girlfriend claimed that she was sorry for what she had done, and that she had made a mistake – but if that were true, she would’ve stopped texting the other guy!

Clearly she was still conflicted, and not 100% remorseful of what she had done. So then he told her to leave his apartment, because he needed “time to process this.” He then told her to wait outside – he knew what he wanted to do.

The final text message

While she was waiting outside his apartment, he unblocked her from WhatsApp and sent her a long text message that went something like this: He started off the text by saying that whether or not she keeps the baby is her choice – but before she makes her decision she should know a few things.

If it turns out that he’s the father, he’ll be a good father and take care of it – but regarding her, she would be nothing more than the mother of their child.

His guidelines

He expanded on this point even more by saying that they would never get back together ever again. This was solidified “the moment you cheated on me.” He also said that he doesn’t plan on interacting with her at all until the birth of the child.

He told her that she shouldn’t bother trying to reach out to him, because he wants nothing to do with her. He then added that he’ll only be in the child’s life after getting a proven paternity test confirming that he’s the father.

Bittersweet symphony

The final thing he wrote in his text to her was something bittersweet. He poignantly pointed out that this child could’ve been “the greatest blessing” for their future together – and instead, she used the pregnancy as an excuse to cheat on him.

For this reason, he said, he would never forgive her. Those were the final words of the text, and he explained to the Reddit users that he has no interest in reading her reply.

Signing off

The final thing he said to the Reddit users was that this will be his final post, and that there wouldn’t be any updates after it. He also said that the child was probably going to be his, which means that if she keeps the baby, he’ll be forever linked with her in his life.

He didn’t seem too excited about that. Clearly this story was a roller coaster of emotions, and the Reddit community were all too keen to comment on it.

Community support

As you can see, many Reddit users, including this one, completely agreed with this man’s actions. He wrote that if he were in the same position, he’d be super annoyed at his parents for not supporting him.

He agreed that the boyfriend doesn’t owe her anything. This user also brought up another very interesting point: Why does she need him to pay for school? Why can’t she take out student loans like the rest of the college-going community?

Her massive debt

The boyfriend responded that the reason she can’t take out student loans is because she already has a mountain of debt to deal with, and therefore it’s not an option.

This debt is because of a health problem she’s apparently had for a very long time – and he’s been paying for that too! In other words, she’s been financially dependent on him in all aspects of life – so she should’ve thought about that before she cheated on him.

Rise up to the challenge

Like we said from the beginning – relationships are hard work. Even if you’re with a person you absolutely adore, things aren’t always peaches and cream. Case and point, this couple had been talking about having kids for a long time – but she still freaked out when she got pregnant.

But instead of talking to him about her fears and being honest, she proceeded to throw all caution to the wind and betray his trust. And now she’s suffering the consequences.
