Men Who Wear Unusual Socks Are More Creative, Intelligent And Successful

This study reveals Why!

According to an article in Elite Daily, men and women who wear colorful; crazy socks are more self-confident, exciting and a sign of success. Socks can be extreme colors like neon green or fuschia; have eyes on them, be covered in lobsters, flying pigs or delicious cupcakes!
And as long as they aren’t a boring white or blue; they can reveal a lot about the person wearing them. Wearing crazy socks shows that you refuse to conform to social norms by bravely displaying your fun and unique personality. Daring socks are a rebellious act towards customs and norms. Clothes help us express our personalities, as an article on Quartz explains; and crazy socks help give us a more lively, inspiring, playful and impressive appearance; especially at our workplace.
“Colorful or character socks show playfulness and make a great ice-breaker or way to connect with others,” the article states. “Another possible advantage of wearing fanciful socks and other unexpected attire: You build a brand as the gutsy guy or a creative type; and other time it may give you more room to bend or break the rules.”
An article in the New York Times gives credit to the tech entrepreneurs of Silicon Valley for this exciting trend of bright and oddly patterned socks among top dogs. Wearing these kinds of socks signals that you are a part of the in-crowd; kind of like a secret handshake that shows your importance in the group.
For example, a director of product management at YouTube, Hunter Walk, said: “I have been in meetings where people look down and notice my socks; and there is this universal sign, almost like a gang sign; where they nod and pull up their pant leg a little to show off their socks.”

Many researchers have dealt with the topic of crazy socks and their connection to our personalities.

In a study published in the Journal of Consumer Research; the theory that people confer higher status and competence to nonconforming; rather than conforming individuals, is examined. Authors Silvia Bellezza; Francesca Gino and Anat Keinan of Harvard University.”We proposed that, under certain conditions; nonconforming behaviors can be more beneficial to someone than simply trying to fit in.
In other words, when it looks deliberate, a person can appear to have a higher status and sense of competency.” Our clothes not only influence the way others perceive us, but also the perception of ourselves. A study conducted by social psychologist Dr. Adam Galinsky at Northwestern University has proven that what we wear has the power to affect the way we think. “We introduce the term enclothed cognition to describe the systematic influence that clothes have on the wearer’s psychological processes,” the researchers declared. Simply put, clothing has the ability to influence our actions, thoughts and make us more courageous than we usually are.
People may not realize your non-conforming attitude at first, but you will be aware of it though your footwear and you will let others know through your actions. This hint of resistance will help your creativity grow and eventually make you more successful, as crazy socks are now proven to be a sign of true champions and leaders!
