SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV)-
The father of a 2-year-old boy is facing attempted murder charges after
police say he shot his son in the face with a shotgun during a fight
with the boy's mother, according to the Jackson Citizen Patriot.
The boy, who prosecutors say lost half of his face, is in critical condition at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Prosecutors say 32-year-old Michael Christoper Glance got into an argument with the boy's mother at his home and tried to shoot the boy in the face with a pistol on April 16.
Glance squeezed the trigger point-blank at the 2-year-old's head, but the gun malfunctioned and did not fire, Jackson County Michigan Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kati Rezmierski said in court. But that didn't stop Glance from grabbing another gun.
During an arraignment for Glance, Rezmierski said:
The boy's mother took her son to her car, putting the boy in his car seat.
She was trying to leave when, according to prosecutors, Glance came out of his home with a shotgun and shot his son.
Rezmierski said:
Glance was later arrested and charged.
Glance does not have a criminal record but Rezmierski says there are several unreported incidents of domestic violence involving Glance.
Glance faces life in prison if convicted.

It was by some divine intervention that gun malfunctioned and his life was spared, but how much of it was really spared?Glance appeared in court via video on April 18 wearing an orange jumpsuit and appearing to feel indifferent about the charges against him, which include three counts of assault with intent to murder, and three felony firearms charges.
