You might think photography is all about having a good camera, but we are glad to let you know that it goes beyond that. It takes expertise, experience, and a creative mind to capture a perfect scene in its totality.
Making a worthwhile memory, like a maternity shoot, a family photo, or a couple’s happy day, requires seeing things from the mind of a professional photographer. This means that the lighting, position, and outfits must be perfect.
Brazilian photojournalist Gilmar Silva has gained worldwide popularity on social media for his stunning, flawless, and stellar photographs. He shows the before and after versions for comparison, and, to us, the edited version ends up looking like it had a touch of magic infused in it.

People think having a camera is all it takes to take breathtaking pictures, but this picture has shown us that it goes beyond that. More than anything, you need to have the ability to think outside the box, and you need the expertise to pull it off.

But all Gilmar used here was some makeup, charcoal, LED lights, and the perfect position to turn this ordinary picture into a true work of art. Totally unbelievable!
3. All About The Angle
Sometimes getting that one Instagram photo that will end up being everyone’s favorite is all about the angle. This photo shows that Gilmar is not just a professional when it comes to retouching pictures but also has precision and skills in getting the perfect angle.

4. Books Are Magical
They say photography goes beyond the ordinary, and we have to agree. It’s not about taking photos or using filters to look different. Photography is magic, and so far, it has been the major concept of Gilmar’s work. This highway photo is excellent.

5. A Mother’s Love
Pregnant women love doing photoshoots, ranging from colorful to creative and even daring. But you should know that when Gilmar handles your maternity shoot, you will get something incredible and completely out of the ordinary. This idea is completely wholesome.

6. Beautiful Illumination
There is just something about the way Gilmar takes his photos. It’s probably his composure or the fact that he has an idea to match every mood. We really don’t know, but he is intense when it comes to his works, and that’s why they always come out well.

7. Beauty Amongst Beauties
We’re pretty sure it took a lot of time and patience to complete this shoot. Just imagine resting your head on this shrub, and a bug decides to get into your hair at that point? That’d be crazy! Although it looks easy, in reality, it’s not.

8. You’re My Reflection
One thing we love about Gilmar is his ability to think beyond the norm and give his clients amazing results. Instead of going for a nice photo by the river, he decided to try something else with his models by taking a totally worthy risk.

9. Don’t Blame Your Location
Have you ever hated your surroundings because you couldn’t seem to get a good photo without the horrible background ruining it? Well, if you’re in that sort of dilemma, we suggest you start taking down lessons from Gilmar’s book of solutions.

10. A Photographer’s Point of View
One thing we’re sure of is that Gilmar totally loves doing what he does best – photography. Perhaps, this photo had the goal of describing his love for the craft, or maybe he just wanted to convey the symbolic meaning a camera has in keeping memories alive.

11. Cats Are Adorable
Cats love attention and a little bit of fun. We’re sure it wasn’t easy getting this shot while trying to keep the cat calm, but it must have been a lot of fun too. This after photo is definitely worth the stress. What a beautiful cat.

12. Treasure Chest
Ever thought the most stressful thing is to get your cat still for a photoshoot? Sorry to burst your bubble, but have you tried to take pictures of young kids? It mustn’t have been easy for Gilmar to complete a shoot of this magnitude.

13. Mother Nature
Here is another maternity shoot by Gilmar, and you should expect nothing less than perfection from him yet again. The gestation period is a wonderful time for most women; they get to connect with nature and, most importantly, their unborn child.

A snaking root depicts nature and the deep connection between a mother and nature. The final photo looks amazing, and it’s crazy to think that Gilmar achieved that perfect look on the scenario in the left image!
14. There’s Something About Blue
There is something appealing, calm, and relaxing about the color blue; you can’t even hate it. Many photographers would have relied on the water to get a pleasant shot, but this photographer did an astonishing job on this particular concept.

This is something only Gilmar can pull off. We hope his hand wasn’t too tired from holding the shawl while trying to get the perfect picture.
15. Anything Is Possible
If your passion is worth doing, then it’s totally worth doing it well. Gilmar makes us see photography as something beyond pictures; for him, it’s an art and an act. We bet you have been wondering how they got this little girl to fly.

16. Moon Baby
Taking maternity pictures has to be Gilmar’s favorite thing. When you love doing something, it always turns out flawless, and that is exactly what he proves to us time and again. The ‘after’ photo of the woman holding her belly and the moon is gorgeous.

He even made the little boy disappear without using a green screen or something of the kind. This is the pictorial representation of “love you to the moon and back.” We indeed love this photo that much.
17. Gilmar And The Moon
If there is something Gilmar and the moon have in common, it is that they both illuminate whatever they touch – even the darkest or brightest of things. The ‘after’ picture has that serenity and peacefulness that comes with being fulfilled.

18. Hop On The Ride
We only have one word for this next image: wow! It takes an expert photographer to turn a normal motorcycle shot into something classy and hot. This photo must have been the promotional image for a motorcycle ad. It could also be for a movie or music video.

19. The Festive Season
Dogs are a man’s best friend, and with this photo, we believe the old saying with more conviction now. We know that the festive season has just ended, but this photo might just give you an idea for this year’s holidays!

20. Walk On Water
One thing we have realized is that any photo taken near a body of water comes out great. But it depends on how you use this natural beautifier to your advantage, and Gilmar always knows how to turn a body of water into his greatest ally.

21. A Happy Dog Equals A Perfect Shot
How can you not love a cheerful, playful, and intelligent animal who would do anything for its owner? Pictures like this, of a pet owner and their pet, always bring a smile to everyone’s faces, as they are truly endearing.

At the end of the day, you’d be surprised by just how much a good angle can transform a regular picture. This one should definitely be framed.
22. Bed Of Branches
Sometimes all you have to do to get a good picture is take advantage of your environment and put it to good use, and this was exactly what was done here. Someone must have cut a tree, and Gilmar took advantage of this to create this masterpiece.

Here is another example of taking advantage of your environment and putting it to better use for the perfect picture. It is no news that Gilmar is a sorcerer amongst mere men. He even turned an old and ugly bridge into a masterpiece.

Whilst we appreciate the brilliance of Gilmar in creating masterpieces, we have to take our time to appreciate his assistant and models. They do a lot as well to produce stellar photos. This shot is likely an appreciation for his art.

Apart from living in a castle, every child’s dream is to be able to fly. But with the help of a talented photographer such as Gilmar, the sorcerer, all dreams can become a reality. All you need are some balloons and a little bit of daddy’s help.

This one has to be our top pick. It hurts our heads to try to figure out how Gilmar captured this. We know he has magical skills, but we aren’t about to give ourselves a migraine trying to find out the answer.

31. Perfection Is Not A Myth
Just as we said, using a body of water to your advantage is a bonus. But no one thought they could use this body of water to create a perfectly aligned photo. As challenging as this may seem, Gilmar still pulled it off.

From these photos, we can easily tell Gilmar is a sucker for romance and family. No wonder he put his all into creating high-quality photos for every couple or family who recruits him, and his clients will never feel sorry they did.

33. Totally Spontaneous
We thought pregnant women liked to take maternity shoots in studios or at least beautiful places. But we will never know why this woman decided to go into the fields to get a memorable photo. It’s women; they are always spontaneous.

34. Icy Queen
The opposite of water is fire, and Gilmar knows this too. After taking that beautiful photo of a girl with flames around her, he decided to also shoot her rival, the ice queen. This model must have gone through a lot to pull this off.

Whether it’s a lake, a puddle of water, or even a deserted field, Gilmar still delivers. So it’s no surprise he turned this muddy shoreline into something heavenly. It’s pretty nice to know that we can get amazing pictures even in places that aren’t fancy.

Nothing good comes out of going into the woods, they said. That’s because they have never met Gilmar. The man who is capable of making what is dead rise again! Into the thick brambles, he sent his models to pose for their shoot, and it’s a sigh-worthy moment.

40. Tinkerbell?
This next image reminds us so much of Tinkerbell, the little fairy in the Disney movie Peter Pan. Perhaps it has to do with the hair, appearance, or maybe her gown. We just get the feeling that we are staring at a fairy. What a sight!

Music is life, and we can’t undermine its importance in our everyday life. Whenever you encounter a particular tune that speaks to you, that’s all you need to feel fulfilled. You can’t deny the surge of emotion or memories such music would bring to you.

This girl represents music with her headphones and vinyl discs around her. We bet you’re trying to guess what song she’s listening to. All we know is that she doesn’t want the music to ever stop.

There is nothing really spectacular and amazing about this photo; it’s just an image of a girl playing with fairy lights. But that’s only the ‘before’ picture. What really stood out for us is how an ordinary and dull photo was transformed into a masterpiece.

You just need a creative mind, brilliance, and a knack for this job, as we have seen in several photos taken by Gilmar. While we have seen Gilmar’s expertise in transforming living things, he has proven to us yet again that his talent goes beyond that. He can still draw inspiration from inanimate objects and turn them into perfect photos, just like this egg.

If you only look at the ‘before’ image, you will likely be very confused. We’re surprised by the fact that Gilmar was able to turn a dark photo into something so pretty and also the way he was able to incorporate a beautiful background to match the theme.
