It seems that as we get older, we lose the ability to think outside the box and kind of conform to society’s expectations. But when you’re a kid, there is much less pressure on you, and this sometimes ends up allowing you to come up with some pretty creative solutions to problems in your life. Here’s a couple of examples of kids whose seriously genius moves made us go, “Well played kid. Well played.”
What Now?
Who doesn’t love a prank? Well when a kid is the one doing the act, we can almost guarantee you that the parents are not in love with the idea. Why? Because, generally it involves someone cleaning up a mess and as a result, someone else getting grounded.

We’re not sure if this pretty innocent kitchen counter prank calls for such harsh punishment but it is definitely enough to annoy the parents. Don’t you think so?
Riding in Style
When you’re a kid, one of the best things to do is ride your bike around the neighborhood and hang out with your friends. Sometimes though, children like to feel free and that means riding barefoot. However, this proves to be uncomfortable and often hazardous.

So this bike lover of a kid thought this issue through and came up with a practical solution ― he simply added a few pieces of carpet to the top of the pedal, and voila!
Birthday Girl Mood
Birthday parties are so fun when you’re a kid. Not only do you get all your friends together to celebrate but you also get great gifts. Plus, there’s a yummy cake involved. The only downside is you have to share your cake, and if you’re someone who has a sweet tooth, this might be a problem.

But this smart young girl figured out how to game this system that distracts others from touching the Crème de la crème of the party ― the cake.
A Burn a Day!
We know the saying should read “an apple a day” but we couldn’t help ourselves! We truly believe that in order to remain youthful you need a lot more than just a healthy fruit each day. For us, a good sense of humor will stand you in good stead.

So, we were happy to see that this father was still being kept on his toes by his little angel. It must have stung for a second or two but we’re sure the laughter made up for it!
Thinking Outside the Box
Over the past year or so, kids have learned how to navigate online learning out of necessity. This meant that a lot of them had to learn some new skills. Especially those who didn’t enjoy paying attention in class, like this shrewd dude.

This kid figured out how to pretend he was having internet issues so that he didn’t have to answer any questions in class. This may not be ideal for his participation grade, but it definitely solved his other problem.
Word Play
A lot of cities love to get their people involved in the naming of things like streets and buildings. Often you’ll find that these are accomplished through contests that anybody can enter. This girl just happened to enter and win.

She decided to take something that people view as smelly and ugly like a street sweeper and turn it into something endearing. We love her thought process! “Sweeping Beauty” all the way!
Just Keep Floating
When you’re a kid, you tend to have a couple of favorite toys that you’d like to take everywhere you go. Unfortunately, not all of them can be used in places that are water-oriented. But this kid figured it out, and it’s actually pretty genius.

By taking his floaties and attaching them to the wheels of this race car, he created a floatable toy that will keep him entertained for hours. Bath time will never be boring again!
Truth Bomb
When a child draws, it’s a great way for them to express how they really feel. It’s seen as a less edited and unfiltered version of their thinking. So when this kindergarten student drew this of her mom, it appears she was letting out some frustration.

Honestly, job well done! After a long day at school, all kids want to really do is go home, eat something yummy and unwind. So, when the moms start chatting, it delays the whole process.
The Mess Police
When most kids are growing up, they are given chores that have to be done either daily or weekly. Sometimes this includes taking care of their pets. This task usually also means making sure the pets’ area is always clean.

However, animals are known to be messy like little kids and this particular kid got tired of the clean-up process. So, they got really creative with a solution to avoid future sweeping.
A Jokester
Some kids have a pretty advanced sense of humor. Those who understand the concept of wordplay can actually become pretty creative when setting up pranks and jokes. The example below is exactly what we mean!

Do you get the joke? We’ll pause while you have a quick laugh. And for those of you who didn’t so much as let out a small giggle, come on and lighten on up!
Fancy Pants
One of the most important times in high school is your last year, and this often includes a very elaborate prom. At the prom, everybody dresses up in their best outfits, and it’s a rite of passage to dance the night away before you graduate.

There’s always some sort of theme and dress code that comes with these proms, and usually, it has to be over the top. Clearly, this person’s idea of fancy was a little bit different, and it led to a pretty interesting and memorable moment.
Savor the Moment
One of the worst things about being a kid is that there’s bedtime. You have to go to bed at a certain time so that you can get up at a certain time and get enough sleep. This is also used as a bargaining tool by parents from time to time.

However, this little girl figured out a way around this and delayed her bedtime in a fair and non-rule-breaking way. We bet the parents are eating their words now. Get it?
Clean This Up!
Having a kid that’s willing to help around the house is always nice. Sometimes though, unless the instructions are very well laid out, they don’t quite understand what you are asking them to do.

For instance, this kid was asked to organize and clean up the pantry but ended up stripping all the cans of their labels and making a total mess. We guess the family is going to get a lot of mystery meals in the future. Kind of exciting, no?
Stranger Talk
The modern world has a lot of crazy technology and platforms that can be used for so many different requests. For example, money sending apps help save a lot of time and energy. Youngster Liam was fully aware of that and since his parents were anti-tacos, he got creative.

He simply made an online request for a stranger to cover his craving. We know that this is not safe nor a good idea but we take our hat off to him still.
Mr. Solution
Many homes have invested in trampolines not only for their kids to play with but also for exercise purposes. This toy/piece of equipment so often winds up being more fun for the kids than for the adults.

And with so many more of us staying home nowadays, it is not surprising that parents hate the constant racket. But before mom and dad thought to remove the trampoline, this kid found the perfect solution.
Aren’t You Clever?
Sometimes kids will get a little sarcastic when it comes to test questions. Sometimes they do this because they are frustrated and can’t figure it out, and other times just because they want to get a good laugh.

We’re not sure which one this kid is, but we will say that their answer to these questions is priceless. We are sure they got marked wrong for this, although we think they should get a few points for being creative.
An Easy Morning
One of the most popular breakfast items for a kid is a big old bowl of sugary cereal. Kids love the combination of the crunch of the cereal and the milk at the end. However, sipping up all the milk often proves to be difficult.

Instead of resorting to picking up the bowl to slurp all the remaining milk, this kid got super inventive. Introducing the straw spoon combo! Now you can finish your cereal in style.
Cool Down
Have you ever gotten ready to eat a wonderful piece of chocolate only to open it up and find it melted all over the wrapper? Don’t worry, we’ve been there too and we can’t seem to forget how disappointing that feeling was.

But thanks to this outside-the-box thinker, say goodbye to those sorrows! This kid seems to have figured out how to cool the chocolate down so they can enjoy it no matter what the temperature is. Genius!
Use Your Imagination
Legos are one of the best toys to help with kids’ imagination and hand-eye coordination. With them, you can build anything, and that makes them accessible to any age. But sometimes, there are those kids that just don’t want to put that much effort into building something fantastic.

A prime example would be this kid who was trying to get as much as he could with very little work. We’re sure the creators behind this challenge had a good laugh at this.
No More Rolling
Remember when you used to sit down and color in sketchbooks for hours? How many times did you lose a crayon because it kept rolling off the table? Well, if you had been as creative as this kid, you might have figured out a way around it.

Instead of trying to keep them in the box, he just found something that was sticky on one side and utilized it to keep his crayons from rolling off the table. We’re sure his mom was horrified, but we think this is pretty clever.
Look, No Hands!
Sitting for hours in bed and watching their tablet or computer is something a lot of kids do nowadays. This is because pretty much everything they want is on that tablet, so there’s no need to go any further.

But holding it for long periods can make your arms tired, and so this young lady figured out a pretty sweet way to create a tablet holder that still allowed her to lay down and relax.
Sketchin’ it Out
Most kids love to doodle and draw when they are very young. But as they get older, they often lose interest and this passion seems to fade away. But maybe if they were as clever as this little girl, they might keep drawing.

Using light to create a silhouette to draw is something that a lot of animators do, and this young lady has figured that out way ahead of schedule.
Hole-in-One
Kids always want to snack and what’s better than a packet of chips? Even though we love Cheetos, we can say without hesitation that the bags are a pain to deal with. You have to stick your hands in deep to retrieve the chips and you end up with orange fingers.

So, this kid got creative and made a new opening in the middle, making it easier to retrieve the beloved chips. We think this idea is so good it should be implemented on a mass scale. Who agrees?
Project Runway
As kids, we recall playing in make-believe worlds with our dolls as models. But oftentimes, we would get so caught up in our fantasy, that we’d end up losing toys, our Barbie doll clothes, and more.

But instead of crying when this happened to her, this designer in the making got to work fast and decided to improvise with kitchenware. We have full faith that this youngling will grow up and do great things.
Covering the Bases
Not everybody is good at math. So sometimes, when there is a tricky question, kids have to get a little creative to make sure that they get the points for that question. So, this kid did just that and we’re giving him full credit.

Making sure he covered all his bases, he used the number mentioned and just made sure that it was in every single place. Probably annoying for the teacher but pretty clever for us!
Do You Get It?!
Homes with multiple kids in them often lead to the little ones out thinking the parents when it comes to practical jokes. The setup and execution of these elaborate jokes can take quite a bit of time, so there has to be someone on the lookout at all times.

Clearly, this onlooker did a great job because the kids were able to get everything set up and accomplish this sweet prank. Unfortunately, we’re sure that the parents made them clean the mess up after as well!
No Peeking
One of the most popular traditions nowadays when it comes to Christmas time is “Elf on the Shelf.” This is a fun little game that parents and kids play before the actual day in order to add some festive fun into their lives.

Supposedly this elf is watching you so that Santa knows how good you are. In order to make sure they stayed on that nice list, these kids figured a way out to make sure the elf wouldn’t see anything.
Stand Up
It can get pretty tiring holding your phone up when you’re trying to scroll through YouTube or text back and forth with your friends. So why not take the time and use a little imagination to create a holder?

This is what this kid did, and he used what he had, which was Legos. This seems like a solid idea, and this kid’s parents should probably expect a lot of great things from him. We sure do!
Dreaming Big
There are always things that kids want that their parents are just not prepared to give them. When this happens, kids are left in a sticky situation with three remaining options.

Either they can have a screaming match which always proves to be unhelpful, or they can ask another family member (again, not recommended), or lastly, they can choose to get creative. This little dude went with the latter and now he has a fake phone and PopSocket.
Spelling it Out
Sometimes when you really want something, you have to think of new ways to get your parent’s attention and show that you truly are passionate about whatever it is. Using the game of Scrabble to send a message is pretty high up on our list of inventive ideas.

Clearly, this little girl has asked about this before and thought that maybe if she took the time to show her parents that she could spell it too, they would reconsider.
Shake it Up
As kids, a lot of us like to make things for our parents. Typically this happens around their birthday, the holidays, or Mother’s and Father’s Day. This comes in handy when we’re trying to win some extra points with them.

This young person clearly wanted to make their mother happy because they used a toy ring container and made it into a useful salt shaker. How cute is that?!
Real Talk
Some kids just get the circle of life way before others. This could be because they watched Lion King too many times. Or perhaps they just have a very open relationship with their parents. Either way, we’re super impressed with this kid!

He has a very clear understanding that a pig is a pig until it becomes bacon. This is a pretty profound yet accurate statement. We bet he has very proud parents!
Proving a Point
When parents are raising their kids, they put a big focus on education. This is because there are a lot of things learned while going to school that you need to grow in life, as well as in your career.

But just because school is important doesn’t mean to say that kids love and adore going there every day. So this smartypants decided to come up with a whole list of reasons why it’s unnecessary. She gets a gold star from us, for sure!
Hold it Up
We realize that this isn’t the first kid on this list to use their Lego pieces to help them make life easier but we still think that this tablet stand deserves applause. Remember, these are really young humans who are coming up with some truly cool ideas!

This kid will go far in business because they have figured out how to be able to both watch their video and do other things by building this tablet stand.
Double the Goodness
One ice cream cone is good, but two is better! This is a law of nature, and apparently, this kid understands it from a very early age. However, the issue comes with the mess as ice cream is known to melt easily.

How this kid came up with this idea will never be known, but we will say that it definitely made us stop and say, “Huh, that’s pretty clever!”
Lighting it Up
It’s frustrating when you’re a kid, and you’re not quite tall enough to reach the things you need. Things like light switches are important for everyone and if you can’t get to it, then you got to allow the creative juices to flow.

This young one’s creativity led them to make this Lego attachment which acts as an assistant tool. It might not be the most fashionable decor but it does solve the problem.
Getting Inventive
There’s nothing like having your own space to enjoy your shows and music. But as a kid, sometimes privacy is not necessarily something that is available to you. So because of this, this young kid figured out a way to get just a little bit of his own space.

By using a cardboard box and his cell phone, he was able to create a little bit of a home theater system. Now he can enjoy his shows and not have to worry about anybody else interrupting.
Stay Still
Imagine sitting down for breakfast, sitting your spoon in the bowl, and turning around only to find it has fallen down into the bowl. We have all probably had this happen at one time or the other.

To keep this from happening, this kid got a little ingenious with some Scotch tape and a clothespin. It’s almost like this kid is a young MacGyver! We might even try this next time. It sure does fix the problem!
Abstract Art
Finding your own style when it comes to art means trying new things. From different mediums to different tools, any slight change in the setup can make for a different type of art.

This sometimes takes people years to learn and thousands of dollars of art college tuition. But this girl seems to have thought about it at a young age and created her own unique style.
No Belt Needed
There is nothing more embarrassing than walking around in front of all your friends and having your pants fall down. That is why so many kids’ parents try to make sure they always have a belt on.

But when that belt breaks or you forget it, then what do you do? Well, if you’re this kid, you grab some clear tape and tape your pants to your belly so that nothing goes wrong. Pretty smart, but it’s definitely going to hurt later!
Multi-Purposeful
There are tons of blogs and articles online that talk about life hacks. Some of these fixes are so simple that you can’t believe them, but even still, adults don’t consider it until someone else tells them about it.

This little girl came up with her own great hack and it involves using chip bag clips as hairpins. While hair and food normally don’t mix, we actually think this is a great solution when it comes to keeping your hair back while cooking dinner.
Snacks on the Go
When you’re a kid, and you’re playing, it’s hard to sit still. You’re always moving from place to place, and that means trying to keep your snacks close at hand can be challenging. That is unless you think as this kid does.

Why not use a toy that has a carrying capacity to drop in some snacks so that no matter where you are in the house, you always have something handy? Yes, please!
No Eating in Class
There are just some people that like to snack all day, every day. But when you’re a kid and in school, you can’t eat while you’re in class, and so for those snackers, this can be pretty frustrating.

But this kid got a little smart and decided to use an empty Chapstick to make sure he always had something close by. No way the teacher is going to catch him now!
Cards on the Table
Uno is such a fun game to play with the family. It could be hours of entertainment, but there is one thing that can be very frustrating and hard to handle. Typically at some point during the game, you wind up with too many cards to hold comfortably in your hand.

This young girl figured out that she could use her brush as a cardholder, and now she is free to strategize and doesn’t have to worry about a hand cramp.
