The DEA Claims That Synthetic Cannabis is SAFER Than Natural Cannabis

You read that right: The DEA really considers synthetic cannabis safer than natural, grown-in-the-dirt cannabis. I know it’s insane – most of us can agree with that. This is one of the many reasons why Big Pharma (and the DEA) annoy the hell out of me.
The DEA  announced back in December 2017 through the federal register that the synthetic THC made by Insys, sold under the brand name Syndros, will be listed as a schedule II drug, meaning it can now be prescribed by doctors. In the meantime, actual THC – containing the exact same properties – remains on the same scheduling list as heroin, noting that it has “no currently accepted medical use” and “a high potential for abuse.” Seriously?!?
Insys has become notorious over the last two years after six former executives and managers were arrested on charges that they engaged in a nationwide scheme to bribe doctors to prescribe a drug containing the opioid fentanyl. Because, you know, this is the PERFECT company to produce synthetic cannabis – especially since the Feds think that cannabis is so dangerous.
Oy. It’s voting season… so get out there are vote for pro-cannabis candidates! Let’s change the way the Feds see cannabis!
